Japanese Urban Legends

Japan does not bury its ghosts. It names them.

Twenty-eight of those names in one illustrated book: the legends nobody sells to tourists, the places people still refuse to visit after dark, and the human beings whose crimes slowly hardened into ghost stories — each one ending with The Truth Behind the Fear, the documented history underneath.

Who We Are

The Anti Yūrei
Yōkai Club

We collect the stories Japan tells quietly — from old books, older locals, police records and places with too many lanterns lit at night. Then we walk you through them, after dark, where they happened.

No actors in sheets. No plastic skeletons. Just real folklore, real history and real streets — plus one drink, because you'll want it.

Based in Kyoto. Walking since the lanterns first scared us too.

Not recommended for travelers afraid of the dark.

What Our Guests Say

Before You Walk

Questions, Answered

Are the tours actually scary?

Yes — that's the product. Real legends, cursed places and dark history told at night to frighten you, including one planned surprise on the Kyoto Ghost Tour. If you scare easily, you'll survive. Probably. Minimum age is 16.

What language are the tours in?

English, run by local guides who collect these stories themselves.

How much does it cost and how long is it?

Kyoto Ghost Tour: from ¥6,777, 2.5 hours. Osaka Ghost Tour: from ¥7,200, 2.75 hours. Cursed History & Yokai Tour: from ¥6,000, 3 hours. The two ghost tours include one drink.

What is the Dark Triangle?

Complete all three tours — Kyoto, Osaka and the Cursed History route — and you've walked the Dark Triangle. The curse breaks itself. Probably.

Is there a book?

Yes. The Midnight Compendium — 28 Japanese urban legends, cursed places and true crime cases, illustrated, ¥1,500 as an instant download. The first story is free to read.

Can I cancel?

Two or more days before the tour: 50% fee. One day or less: 100%. If we cancel — bad weather, too few travelers — you get a full refund.
